Texas Flood Blues Band
Düsseldorf

"Best Blues in Town!"

Once upon a time, well frankly rather recently, in October 2006 three fullblooded blues-boys met in Düsseldorf. Until then they played in several known blues-bands, but they were up to something new. The first sessions developed quickly to the foundation of a new, tight group who pay their dues to the  blues greats. Of course, Texas Blues, being their creed, is more than just a name of another blues band...

Ever since, Dirk Steinbeck (Git/Voc.), Hubert Salmen
(Bass/Voc.) and Ralf Koxholt (Drums / Back.-Voc.) play passionate guitar-blues at its best. In Nov. 2007 the band succeeded with the keyboarder Matthias Frischmann.

Our approach is to present our fun and addiction to what we do - which we consider much more important than to play at high-end perfection.
Having  fun to floor it. That does the trick. With our background playing in studios, and of course, live, we know how to entertain!**

"That`s how white boys got the Blues!"

Songs from Ray Vaughan, early greats from ZZ Top or classics such as e.g.. "Dust my broom" is what we interpret. Based on the original works, we feel bound to deliver fun, feeling, power and absolute obsession to our listeners.

We don't try to be copy cats...we take the original material and give them our own twist....with our feeling and dedication to the blues . . .

("Thank you Guys for givin us the Blues"
remembering SRV, Jimi Hendrix & many more...)

Musical Development:
At age of 4, I rocked mum’s accoustic guitar and continued studying air-guitar  for consecutive 6 years, but at age of 10 I started seriously learning how to play guitar.

First musical influences:
Just to name a few… The Who, Bluesbrothers, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Jimmy Hendrix, Gary Moore, Whitesnake, Aerosmith, Jethro Tull, W.A.S.P., Guns’n Roses, Metallica…

After a number of early engagements in Hard-Rock bands, the 1990’s emerged as a black period of abstinence from active playing. No earlier than 1999 I was introduced to the wonderful Texas Blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan by my dear friend Christoph Raschke. Prior to that time, Blues was something I rarely consumed, but never did myself. But ever since, I studied with great respect to the huge heritage available a many different blues greats. Without the enduring support of my dear wife Sonja, my dream would never, ever have come true.

Of course, my goal was to found a blues band where I could realize my obsession. Having been on countless sessions, end of 2004 I met Hubert Salmen (Bass) and Markus Dillenburg (Drums) with whom we laid ground for our first tight blues band „Dirty Harry“. Late 2006 Markus had to move back to Meckeln in The Eifel (great place to party!!!). Hubert and myself, we can look back on an unforgettable gig in Meckeln (where the sun don’t dare go down!). Just shortly later we succeeded to hire Ralf Koxholt who is a fullblooded blues-guy (greatest blues-archive on earth) on drums. Ever since, related to our obsession to our musical core we were baptized „TexasFlood Blues Band“. To create a broader sound and "divine" approach, we are glad that Matthias Frischmann (do me Dr. John!) joined us with his more jazzy-funky approach on Fender Rhodes and of course B3!

Stars:
Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Bonamassa, Billy F. Gibbons/ZZTOP, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Popa Chubby, Bernard Allison, B.B. King, Albert King, Freddy King, Muddy Waters, usw.

„When I got to the guitar, I found that I had a psychiatrist, a housewife, I had a mistress, had a cook, I had everything all in one, something I could wrap around my arms and I could play. That guitar and I – we just hatched down together and we said: we could be buddies for life“ (Les Paul)

My life is awesome……But I still got the blues…

Ralf Koxholt

„Gatherin`“ Ralf Koxholt

Hey there blues folks,

I was born in April 1965 and commenced playing drums at age of 9.

Pretty early, when I was about 13 years old, I started to listen to the blues. Ever since, Blues is „my life“ . . .

In the early to mid 80`s I gathered a lot of experience playing live many years with „Midnite Special Bluesband“. The honorable slide-guitar player „Prof. Bottleneck“ headed this band and brought us on countless stages throughout Germany.

After a short break, I played with „Hit the Bottle Bluesband“, „Köln Kalk Bluesband“ and worked as session- and studiodrummer in a many projects and gospel choires.

Since Oct. 2006 I enjoy playing blues with the boys of „TexasFlood Bluesband“ in Düsseldorf. I guess they got somethin’ cookin’…!

My favorites? Eric Clapton / Popa Chubby / SRV / Willie deVille . . . There are too many great blues guys out there….I just can’t count them all!!!! (Thank you guys !)

The Blues is my Life …,

- Ralf -
